Is it a thing, too many seeds?
I know it’s important to pull out all the little volunteers come spring. Volunteers from the various seeds that got spread by the wind when I was too busy to deadhead. But I find it very difficult, and often convince myself to let them be just in case my germinating seeds don’t take for some unknown reason. I’ve been known to transplant these little seedlings and then kick myself for being overrun later in the season. I have the same difficulty tossing seed heads in the compost heap. I save seeds, plan for the next season and add to that collection when I order new varieties. Yes, I have too many seeds. To combat this dilemma, I’ve expanded my growing area this year in hopes of having more orderly rows and increase my yield. Both these goals happened, but it’s still just me, myself and I. I laugh at myself trying to keep up with the additional space aka additional work, but I marvel at the beauty as well. I may start sprinkling seeds in random places; barren parking lots, country road mailboxes, parks with little color, anything is better than the compost heap.
